As of 1st April 2015, the Irish and UK Customs have directed that all rebated Fuel for use in the agricultural and construction sectors must contain a new colourless tracer compound called Accutrace S10. This new marker is used in tandem with the existing Solvent Blue and Euro Marker Dyes.
Accutrace S10 is a molecular marker whose chemical properties are very similar to that of Diesel and therefore is envisioned to be resistant to the conventional laundering or dye ‘washing’ methods. Its addition to Irish and UK rebated fuels is the latest effort to significantly reduce the volume of illegally traded Diesel.
The detection of Accutrace S10 in Road Diesel therefore signals illegal product, declaring warranty to be void and warrants prosecution by Customs & Excise.
Independent Laboratory Ltd. are now set up to test for the presence of Accutrace S10. If you wish to discuss having this test included in your future Diesel analysis packages please get in touch or reply with any queries you may have.
